These little cuties measure about 6mm across, and 4mm deep. Beads are usually described by the length from hole to hole as the first number, hence they are 4x6mm beads. They are centre drilled. Often they are called a squashed bicone, ufo, or saucer bead.
I have to say, these are some of the hardest beads to source. It took me years to find a supplier!
Typical uses for these faceted beads:
- Halo beads on top of beaded angels
- Sparkling beads to add to Christmas decorations
- Embellishment beads to sew onto handicrafts, cushions, home wares, t-shirts, dresses etc for some lightweight bling
- Children particularly love these beads as the shape makes them easier for little hands to hold onto while threading, and they love the sparkling shiny effects, especially from the transparent colours.
- Add them to earrings to top off a focal bead - these acrylic facet beads add virtually no weight to the design, perfect for those who don't like wearing heavy earrings.
- Add them into necklace and bracelet designs to separate larger beads, or use them in a row together in different colours to form a feature.
- Use them on sun catcher hangers or mobiles - anywhere that you want them to catch the light!
However you use them, you will probably want multiple colours of these in your stash!
