The bead spirals around from one end to the other giving texture to the bead. It's rather a lovely effect!
This amazing range of beads are painted lucite, with the most interesting (or weird?) patterning! There are crazy black stripes all over the bead at seemingly random places. There are also, in between the stripes, feathery patterns also in black.
We are not aware of the name of this style of coating, but it must be something added to the base colour of the bead as a second layer.
