This cinnabar bead is so fabulous as a focal bead for a necklace, or maybe a decoration for home wares projects. You can see from the photo that the hole goes through the side of the bead - it goes all the way through. You can thread it, or mount it on a long headpin or wire it up.
Measurements: The bead measures about 50mm across by 14mm thick. Threading hole is about 1.5-2mm

Today's cinnabar is most probably made from resin - sometimes still hand carved, and totally safe to wear. Centuries ago, people became very ill from making/wearing cinnabar due to it's mercury content!
