The government of Indonesia set up a dedicated town set up especially for the production of cheaper versions of the ceremonial coins to be used in Hindu ceremonies such as funerals, decorations for the temples etc.

Indonesian Cash Coins, known as Pis Bolong, were a form of currency based on Chinese imperial coinage during the Tang dynasty era. Initially introduced by Chinese traders, it wasn't until the 13th century when Singhasari defeated the Mongol empire that they became widely used in Indonesia. While the Ming dynasty eventually banned trade with the region, local rulers began creating their own versions of Chinese cash coins, often of inferior quality. The last Chinese cash coins circulated as currency in Bali until 1970.

These coins were made from materials such as copper-alloys, lead, and tin. They are still used today in various superstitions and rituals, earning them the nickname "magic coins". In Bali, cash coins are often sewn onto clothing, made into jewelry, or used as statuary objects. They are sold in tourist shops, traditional markets, and specialized stores.
